Mtoroloite, which is a quite rare variety of Chalcedony, is found in Zimbabwe. Mtorolite was used in jewelry and seals throughout the Roman Empire. The source of the crystal is unclear, it may have come from Turkey, where deposits are known to exist. It disappeared from use sometime in the second century. It was rediscovered when the Zimbabwean deposits were found in the 1950s. It is also called Chrome Chalcedony.
