Grounding & Centering


In this post, I want to talk about a few key techniques: Grounding & Centering


There has been a massive amount of unrest lately, and it is affecting quite of few of us empaths in a negative manner...But it's not just us, the animals are feeling it too. It tends to make us "Scatter brained" and uneasy, but there are ways to bring you back to yourself and your path...


We as Pagans embrace a Sacred Connection to the Earth, and to what comes of it. It seems so easy to lose the force of that connection in every day life's tests and trials. Keep in mind that it is healthy to try to maintain a balance, not only in the things you do, and the things you think, but with the Earth itself.


Centering is considered to be a core practice in magick, being a foundation for energy work.

Grounding can be a way of relinquishing extra energy.

Both of these techniques together can also be used to stabilize your energy and bring yourself to a more positive state of well-being.


There are quick and easy ways to Ground and connect with the Earth, one being walking outside barefoot...

Centering can be a quick easy clap in front of your face to draw your attention and mind back...


If you have been meditating and practicing regularly, these techniques should come fairly easy for you. But, as with any exercise, practice! Do not be discouraged if it does take you awhile to master a technique, we are all still learning, myself included.


The easiest grounding & centering exercise I teach is this:

Sit down

Put your feet flush with the floor and close your eyes.

Visualize a white light coming up from the earth

Focus on your feet, reaching down into the earth and the healing nutrients of the ground beneath you...

Pull that light up through your legs and feel it rise, focusing on filling your legs, your torso, your head in its healing glow...

Once it gets to your head, feel the cleansing energy cycle back down to your midsection, your core...

Let it linger there and embrace the vibration of the earth...

Once you feel it, cycle it back down, through your legs, to your feet and back into the earth. Thank the energy for its use...


The point of it is to cleanse, to center our core, and to be able to breathe... It may take practice, especially when you are stressed, but it helps immensely. I know that things get overwhelming, and the difficulties in our path may seem like too much...But as a community we all have each other! If you need it, reach out!


These techniques can be done before or after a ritual, or both... Or just whenever you feel like you need to...

There is NO wrong time!


We ground and center to retain peace and calm within ourselves, which leads us further on our path of enlightenment.
