The depth of darkness offers psychic protection. Not effective if used excessively, black candles are appropriate for use during a given period of time to protect a person from a specific thing or matter, before these candles are put away for use when needed at some point in the future. After banishing the things that need to be released or reversed, this candle should be set aside. Other characteristics often associated with black candles include acceptance, self-control, strength, security, determination, release, persistence, patience, and justice. In some instances, the color also takes on a darker focus and breaks from traits associated with anger, secrets, death, banishment, negativity, loss, endings, and the afterlife.
