Sobek was an ancient Egyptian crocodile god of strength, fertility, and protection, associated with the life-giving waters of the Nile. He was also linked to the power of the pharaoh, the military, and was seen as a creator god in some myths, emerging from the primordial waters to establish order. He was worshipped in major temples, especially at Kom Ombo, and sacred crocodiles were revered in his name.
