Tetrehedrite

Tetrahedrite is a complex and highly valued mineral for both scientific collectors and metaphysical practitioners, known for its unique crystal structure and powerful protective properties.

Geologically, it is a copper antimony sulfosalt mineral. Iron, zinc, silver, mercury, and lead can all replace some of the copper, which is why it often falls into a mineral series with tennantite (where arsenic replaces antimony). Its name comes directly from its typical crystal habit: perfect tetrahedron (four-faced pyramid) shapes, although it can also be found in massive form. It is a gray-to-black metallic mineral with a distinct dark luster, a hardness of 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale, and a notably high specific gravity due to its metallic content. Tetrahedrite is a major ore of copper and sometimes silver and mercury, found in hydrothermal veins and contact metamorphic deposits in locations such as Peru, Bolivia, the United States (Colorado), and various parts of Europe.
