Tiffany Stone

tiff.jpg

Gazing into a fine cross-section of Tiffany Stone is a spiritual journey unto itself, soothing the mind and stimulating it at the same time. The eye travels the beautiful patterns taking in the whole, trying to decide which of its lavender and violet swirls, black and silver veins, or gold intrusions to examine more closely. All too quickly images form…a heavenly universe, an underground cave, a creek bed meandering the mountains…. Ultimately the decision is to simply explore them all.

This lovely stone engenders a light-hearted freedom, whether it is in meditation, connecting to spiritual realms, finding creative inspiration, or just learning to “be” in the moment. It is ideal for releasing stress and pent up emotions, clearing blockages of the meridians and chakras, and allowing positive energy to flow. This high-vibrational, energizing stone carries a soft frequency that nurtures the mind, stimulating and opening the Crown and Higher Crown Chakras, and increasing one’s intuition and metaphysical abilities.

Tiffany Stone is composed primarily of Opalized Fluorite which produces its signature blend of rich purples, blue-violets, lavenders, and creams. It is usually brecciated with interwoven veins or patches of Quartz, Chalcedony, Dolomite, Rhodonite, Manganese oxides (blacks), Bertrandite (white, pink or yellow, containing Beryllium), Beryl, and/or solid white or translucent-yellowish Opal. It has a hardness on the Mohs scale ranging from 4 to 7 depending on the concentration of minerals, and forms in nodules that vary in size from very small to over 100 pounds. The wonder of Tiffany Stone is in its beauty, and each unique formation is secret until the rock has been opened.

Tiffany Stone is extremely rare and valuable, found in only one place on earth, the Brush Wellman Beryllium Mine in the Topaz-Spor Mountains of Juab County in western Utah, USA. It was unearthed in the 1960’s with the discovery of Bertrandite, the principal mineral mined for its Beryllium content, though it contains less than 1%. Beryllium is a silver-gray metallic element, non-magnetic, stronger than steel and lighter than aluminum, used in the aerospace, telecommunications, information technology, defense, medical, and nuclear industries. Brush Wellman’s mine and refining plant, now called Materion Brush, is the sole source of processed Beryllium in the U.S. and the only known fully-integrated Beryllium company in the world. The extraction process involves crushing massive amounts of material which yield only 1 to 2 percent of Beryllium ore, and is the reason Tiffany Stone is so rare, and consequently expensive, as very few survive this extraction process.

The name Tiffany Stone is often erroneously attributed to Tiffany & Co. of New York because the slabs resemble Tiffany glass lampshades, though it is more often linked to a miner who picked up the nodules for his daughter, Tiffany (sometimes named as Tiffany Harris). Tiffany Stone is sometimes referred to as Opal Fluorite, Bertrandite, Beryllium Ore, and even Ice Cream Opalite for its creamy swirled appearance. (Though there is a true Opalite composed of Dolomite, Quartz and Fluorite, not Tiffany Stone, the term Opalite is almost always used for synthetic opalized glass used in jewelry, and to promote impure Common Opal.)

Note: As Beryllium is toxic, Tiffany Stone should be worn or used only in polished form, and gem essences should be prepared by the indirect method.

Tiffany Stone inspires the need for decluttering one’s life, not only for simplifying and tidying one’s physical environment, but for recognizing and releasing emotional baggage or people that no longer serves one’s better good. Its essence encourages freedom and ease, and living unencumbered.

Tiffany Stone enhances clear thought and mental sharpness, and is an ideal support stone for academic study.

Wear, carry or hold Tiffany Stone to enhance intuition, telepathy, clairvoyance, clairaudience, or other channeled information and to clarify its meaning and purpose.

Also known as Purple Passion, Tiffany Stone stimulates the libido and may be used to increase the flow of sexual energy. It is highly beneficial for tantric practices.
