It has been way too long since I wrote a blog post, but it is definitely something I will be focusing on more going forward.
Lets have a little discussion, shall we? There has been so much talk about Moldavite, where it comes from, and it's properties. Soooo I figure it is a good time to address this cool crystal...
Moldavite is a green Meteoric Tektite that comes from a Meteorite collision with the Earth that occurred approximately 15 Million Years ago. It was strewn across Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria. Unlike other Tektites from around the world which are tar black or brownish-black, translucent Moldavite is a deep forest green and is the only variety suitable for cutting and faceting as a gem.
Metaphysically speaking it is a stone of Transformation, Connectivity, and Major Transmutation...
Moldavite's frequency may take some getting used to, but its profound ability to accelerate one's personal and spiritual evolution makes it highly sought after in the metaphysical world, both for its life-altering capabilities and as a catalyst for drawing in Light to aid in Earth's healing. It is a powerful aid for meditation and dream-work, as well as increasing one's sensitivity to guidance, intuition and telepathy, and the ability to understand messages sent from higher realms.
But why all the fuss? TikTok yo lol
It went viral on TikTok and then EVERYBODY had to have it...
Which led to massive market crashes because this is a CRYSTAL... There is only so much of it that naturally formed... Which means there is ONLY so much to be found...
Let me put this into perspective for you: 5 years ago we could SELL Moldavite Retail for $18-20 per gram. Now we are lucky to get it WHOLESALE as a Crystal seller for under $50 per gram. There was such a high desire for it, people sold out within seconds (I am NOT joking). The price went up due to demand, which led to those who can mine it going into more dangerous situations to get it and bring it to the public. It certainly does not help that shipping rates escalated due to the Pandemic. Which is why the price has skyrocketed. The mines are closed now, whether they are due to the supply being depleted (which is what I am feeling is true) or government issues with working conditions, I do not see the situation improving any time soon...
So why the long rant??? I guess this is info that I thought was common but is not. Due to thousands of messages from our Social Media platforms, I thought it best to address it here. Plus it is a good thing to understand why pricing in the gem, mineral and crystal community and stores, whether online or in person, can fluctuate.
Moldavite is cool, yes
Moldavite is awesome, yes
But it is a stone that you either LOVE or you HATE...
There is no in between lol
Most of the people that do not like Moldavite, I refer to check out Cintimani, which we also carry (and as an Energy Healer, Reiki Master, etc myself... I PREFER it)
If you have not held a piece prior to purchasing, I recommend you seeing if anyone around you has a piece you can "test hold". Then purchase a piece for yourself through a REPUTABLE store or seller you TRUST.
Why haven't we restocked in so long??? Well the above issues, and in all honesty, I only have 3 people I myself trust to restock it from when they can get their hands on some...
Moldavite is one of the MOST FAKED crystals out there so be careful guys!
Tips to help look for in fake stones :
Authentic Moldavite can be olive, dark green, almost black, or mostly green, and has some subtle color variations. Experts describe natural Moldavite as "dirty", not bright
If it appears Shiny / Wet looking.
If the faceted gemstones do not have bubbles or inclusions, if these appear flawless or clean like glass then they are probably fake. All REAL FACETED MOLDAVITE have some bubbles, any shape and any size, as well as lechatelierite inclusions (pure silica glass - melted quartz), the way only nature can create. Bubbles are only seen inside the stone, polished or faceted. Bubbles are not on the surface, the Surface is the texture, pitting, and erosion from nearly 14.5 million years. Every single piece will vary.
Moldavite should never be transparent like glass. Even super thin pieces will be opaque. The real stuff is translucent.
When looking for some, beware Ebay and Etsy. Seriously... I have been watching both sites for YEARS be flooded with fakes.
My opinion? Stay away from Moldavite from anywhere but trusted US sellers and the Czech Republic. But even then, be cautious. You guys know you can always message me (Pics are good but videos are better) if you need help figuring out if your piece is fake or real.
This is a fragile crystal, DO NOT CLEANSE IT WITH SALT WITCHES!!!
